My name is Lisa Mullings and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have been working in the behavioral health field for over 20 years, beginning in social service assisting adolescents and adults. Since receiving my Masters Degree in clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, I have worked as a psychotherapist in private practice. My office is currently located in the Hyde Park Bank Building on Chicago's south side in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood just minutes from the University of Chicago.
I work with clients from all walks of life while embracing therapy from a multicultural perspective, addressing concerns such as ethnicity, race, gender /gender identification, income, disability, or other social factors .
By utilizing an eclectic/integrative approach to psychotherapy, it reflects my ideology that no one theory fits all. I am able to blend elements from psychodynamic, cognitive- behavioral or humanistic approaches, tailoring therapy to address the specific needs of the client.
In my experience, I have learned that one of the most significant goals of therapy is the establishment of a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship with clients. Having a safe , confidential and nonjudgemental environment, lays the foundation to productive and successful therapy.
Of equal importance is my aim to assist clients in gaining insight into the source of personal unresolved issues while developing the tools necessary to address, cope with and resolve them. The therapist role is to support and promote self-awareness which ultimately leads to feeling better.
Therapy is not easy work. However the benefits are tremendously rewarding. Give it a go and you wont regret it.
Therapy wins!!
